Robin James Oscars

Hollywood glitz and glam came to Bournemouth on Saturday 12 January 2013  Robin James Aveda Salon group  arrived in town for their Oscars themed awards party. Robin James who have branches in Bristol, Dorchester, Sherborne and Poole Quayside, put on their glad rags and more than 100 partied the night away with a 3 course dinner, awards ceremony and dancing until the small hours.

Robin felt it was “… fantastic to have the whole company under one roof to celebrate our achievements of the past year and recognise those individuals who have made a real difference.  It’s my way of saying thank you to my great team.  We had a lot of fun”.

Princes Trust Fundraising Party at Robin James Poole

We were delighted when our client Tea Colaianni chose to plan a fundraiser to support The Princes Trust in our Poole salon last week.  Guests were treated to makeup, Replenishing Eye treatments and nail taster sessions along with a facial workshop and hair demonstrations.  Tea raised over £1100!   At a time when almost 1 million young people are unemployed, Tea’s support will play a key role in enabling the trust to reach out to 55,000 young people this year, helping them to get back into education, employment or training and build a future for themselves.  The proceeds from the event will support a young person through a life-changing programme, giving the skills and confidence to succeed, as well as support from a role model – something many young people have never had before.

MASTERJAM 2012 update

In September we announced Beth, our stylist from Bristol, as our ‘Superstar of the Salon’.  As a reward, we sent Beth off to the Berlin Masterjam for two days.  Beth attended The Show where international artists inspired the audience with their technical and creative talent.  She also took part in various educational workshops run by industry experts.  Here are some snaps from Beth’s trip!

 

Plan a party at Robin James and raise money for your chosen charity!

Kate Norris has set up an organisation called Comfort & Care with the aim to become a registered charity by the end of 2012.  Comfort & Care want to provide end of life care to the community of Sherborne and the surrounding areas, free of charge to those most in need.

Kate has held many events but decided to host her latest fundraiser at Robin James Sherborne.  She sold entry tickets for £5 and held a raffle on the night whilst guests were treated to Aveda goodie bags and refreshments, as well as spray tanning, pedicure and Christmas hair and make-up demonstrations by the Robin James team.  Friends and family came along to support the event and there is talk of another fundraiser in March for Mothers Day.  We are delighted to announce that Kate managed to raise £300 for Comfort & Care!  If you would like to find out more information about Comfort & Care please email Kate:  dave@dnorris71.wanadoo.co.uk or call in at the Sherborne salon.

Robin James team at Sassoon Academy

At Robin James we ensure that each guest has an exceptional experience.  We are very proud of the service our team provides each guest and therefore we are always looking to support them with on-going training.  We sent Sari, Sally, Paul and Leah to the legendary Sassoon Academy in London this October for some Advance Training.  They spent an inspiring 5 days at at the Academy and have returned to work full of enthusiasm and ideas!  To book an appointment with Sari, Sally, Paul or Leah - call our Sherborne, Dorchester or Poole salons.

The Robin James Dorchester Event

Thank you to our guests and the Dorchester team for making our Dorchester salon event such a success!  It was a fun-filled evening with make-up demonstrations from Aveda’s expert, Nick Marshall and an inspiring hair trend showcase from the team.  Sally from The Loft Cafe, Antelope Walk provided some delicious canapés whilst guests picked up some trade secrets and stocked up with Aveda products. The Robin James Costa Foundation Charity Wax

We sent our lovely Therapist Katie from our Sherborne salon, to Costa Coffee, Sherborne at 2pm on Saturday, 11 August  to help raise money for The Costa Foundation. The Costa Foundation are committed to looking after their coffee-growers.  They have established The Costa Foundation, a registered charity, with the aim to relieve poverty, advance education and the health and environment of coffee growing communities around the world. Katie helped raise over £100 for the Costa Foundation by waxing volunteer, Matt’s legs!  Well done Katie… and Matt!

The British Hairdresser of the Year Awards – behind the scenes at the photo shoot

 

A hairdressing photo shoot can be eventful day. Sometimes for the wrong reasons! Hairdressers are high octane individuals who sometimes allow their creative energy to boil over. Make up artists can be impossible. The models can be a tricky breed too, so imagine all those characters working in a studio, under pressure and the clock ticking. Hairbrushes, lipstick and anything else to hand can get thrown out of the proverbial  pram. Not a pretty sight I can assure you. Let me introduce you to the RJ shoot yesterday. A session shoot with 5 models, 3 hair stylists including me, Helen from Sherborne and Paul from Sherborne/Dorchester, Nick (make up) Lucy McLeod (photographer) and her assistant. Not forgetting David who was on hand with the clothes styling. I for one have never been involved in a shoot that ran so smoothly. If the results are influenced by how well a team works together then we will win the awards. If we don’t scoop the silverware,we will have already achieved something special. I am so very proud of what my team created yesterday and how they achieved it. Thank you one and all. And good luck too!! Robin
